Sarah's Story

Sarah and her boys have been part of our Early Intervention community since April 2022, joining us at our first ever sensory and messy play session, which was funded by Cash For Kids. Early Intervention is a volunteer led community group that provides access to a wide range of inclusive activities and experiences that would otherwise be challenging for many families to access. Over the past four years, Jaxson has demonstrated significant growth in confidence, communication and social participation. He has also developed strong leadership skills and now takes an active role as a Junior helper, supporting us with the setting up and tidy up of themed play activities and parties. His kindness, enthusiasm and leadership qualities are consistently evident and continue to flourish. Sarah has also been volunteering with us for two years, sharing her lived experience and using her creativity to make our props and themed activities for our events. Sarah enjoys taking part in activities with the children and helping to create a friendly and welcoming space for families. Her commitment and positive attitude help make Early Intervention an inclusive place where families feel comfortable, supported and able to get involved.

Sarah said:

"We have been using Early Intervention for four years. This has enabled us to access a variety of activities and resources, such as messy play, therapy dogs, art therapy crafts and private events at places like Smugglers Cove and Wynford Farm. Soft play facilities are usually far too busy during their regular opening hours for my children to enjoy.
Ive seen my children’s confidence grow with these experiences, they have especially supported Jaxson's social and communication skills, helping him to develop and grow.

When we first came to the party stay-and-play sessions, he was overwhelmed but with gentle support and gradual introductions, he was able to build his confidence and he concord this chapter of his life.
Every child in their life deserves this opportunity in life to help them grow and flourish. We have met so many lovely people and made so many new friends on this journey, while also having the opportunity to meet others on their own journeys.

Every family's journey looks different, but we are all united by the same goal - supporting our children. Parents, grandparents, friends and families all come together to create a safe place where children can be their true selves and socialise in a way that works for them.
