They provide a visual record of children participating in ways that work for them, families accessing experiences together and community partners helping create opportunities that may otherwise have remained out of reach.
Art therapy using familiar characters to engage children, helping them explore ideas, communicate and express themselves without relying solely on spoken language. The focus is not simply on the finished artwork, but on giving each child time, choice and support from a qualified practitioner to participate in a way that feels right for them.
What began as a small programme has developed into years of sustained activities, relationships and shared experiences with children and families across Aberdeen.
Four years of sustained community provision means more than a collection of individual activities. It represents children returning to familiar spaces, families building trusted relationships and a community growing around shared understanding, inclusion and belonging.
This earlier milestone captures how quickly a programme built by families developed into a consistent source of inclusive opportunities. It documents the foundations on which the fourth year of delivery and continuing family engagement were built.

Meaningful inclusion is not about every child doing the same thing in the same way. It is about creating enough flexibility, choice and support for children to participate at their own pace and experience success on their own terms.
Pizza making combines choice, sequencing, sensory exploration and practical skills within a relaxed activity. Children can join in at the level that is right for them while sharing an enjoyable experience with their families.
Working with Aberdeen City Council Countryside Rangers gives children opportunities to investigate nature, try unfamiliar activities and develop confidence through practical outdoor learning.
Outdoor learning gives children room to move, investigate and follow their curiosity. Familiar support and a flexible environment allow each child to explore in a way that reflects their interests, confidence and individual needs.
Nature-based activities can reduce pressure while opening up new opportunities for movement, problem-solving and shared discovery. Children are able to observe, join in, step back and return when they are ready.
Riot Splatter creates an energetic space where children can move, experiment and make a mess without fear of getting it wrong. It supports creative freedom while offering an experience many families would not routinely access.
Access is shaped by the environment around a child. Thoughtful planning, familiar support and greater flexibility can turn an experience that might normally feel difficult or inaccessible into one the whole family can enjoy together.
Inclusive provision creates opportunities for children, siblings and parent carers to spend positive time together without the usual pressure to explain, apologise or leave when a child needs to participate differently.
Outdoor environments provide space for movement, curiosity and self-directed exploration. Children can investigate their surroundings, build confidence and connect with nature without the demands of a formal setting.
These films show more than completed activities. They show children being given time, families being welcomed and barriers being reduced. Together, they provide visible evidence of sustained community-led provision and of what becomes possible when opportunities are designed around the children who use them.
